Genuine Progress Indicator. No. 592

Redefining Progress created the Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI) in 1995 as an alternative to the gross domestic product (GDP). The GPI enables policymakers at the national, state, regional, or local level to measure how well their citizens are doing both economically and socially.

Hi Librarian,

I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a post on the grants that American Library Assoiciation (ALA) Public Programs Office is giving out to community libraries. They are part of a national effort to foster cultural programming as an integral part of library service, especially in communities that may not have access to the cultural institutions and museums available in larger cities.

I'd be more then happy to send you more information on the different programs the grants are funding and set up an interview with a ALA Public Programs Office spokesperson. Let me know if you are interested!

Best,

Abby Lopez
